Hile U.S. consumer confidence remains stable and fuel costs arc still low, a variety of factors have stalled global trade. Air cargo-which had been staging something of comeback at this time last year-continues to dick up modestly, but yields continue to come under pressure. Add to this situation the complexity ushered in by nimble drones and massive blimps, and the future appears even more uncertain. Despite a rather good start in airfreight volumes this year, the underlying weak trade performance makes it unlikely that growth will accelerate significantly in the coming months. Indeed, The International Air Transport Association (IATA) notes that the tough global economic environment and feeble recovery being staged by China continues to concern the industry.
