Texas Instruments promises improved detection of objects by driver assistance systems with the new AWR2944 radar sensor. In addition to its increased ability to detect quickly, it can monitor blind spots and efficiently negotiate intersections and curves. The 77-GHz radar sensor offers best-in-class RF performance and requires about 30% less space than today's radar sensors. However, thanks to the integration of a fourth transmitter, it achieves a 33% higher resolution in comparison, enabling vehicles to detect any obstacles more clearly and avoid collisions. The new sensor's DDMA (Doppler Division Multiple Access)-based signal processing also improves its ability to detect oncoming vehicles up to 40% further away.
