Dear Reader, The new normal is to consume 25 to 30 kWh of power over 100 km with a half-hour charging break after 300 to 400 km: at least with a vehicle that can manage high voltage charging. If cars are used that are not equipped with this feature, then the consumption is reduced for approximately the same range, but the charging time more likely consumes 1 h. The fact that statistically drivers normally cover short distances doesn't really help if you do have to cover longer distances. And it does make a difference whether you visit relatives in the high North or visit an exhibition in the deep South: In the scenario travelling northwards, two breaks of 1 h each is too much but the arrival time not important. In the scenario travelling south, the time of arrival is planned, 2 h hurt and are not irrelevant. If, upon arrival at the exhibition car park, 200 km of range still remain, then that is fine; if only 30 km remain, it is not: Because as of today, exhibitions do not offer that many charging stations. This can be a problem for the maybe 20,000 vehicles as charging stations are often occupied during the day and you have to grab the space when you arrive.
