Dear Readers, Globalized, just-in-time supply chains were efficient and low cost. And then they weren't, as the world faced a pandemic, trade wars, and now lethal wars and sanctions. The industry's supply chains are brittle and very costly when they fracture. According to AutoForecast Solutions, the world's carmakers will be forced to eliminate more than two million vehicles from production schedules in 2022. Automotive electronics suppliers are searching for ways to make their supply chains more resilient. Some have set up teams to establish which parts are most crucial and build excess inventory for them. Others have asked OEMs to provide better visibility on their long-term purchasing plans and stick to their volume commitments.
