According to Denso, the industry is shifting from products to services, and from hardware to software. As such, Denso’s reorganization reflects its desire to be more flexible and resilient. Denso aims to speed up management decision-making and execution. Among the changes effective at the beginning of 2021 are these: A software innovation department was established and the mobility systems function has been reorganized. Denso’s connected services business promotion division was integrated with Denso Ten, the company’s information, communications and technology business. To better address electrification, the thermal management business unit was established and the thermal products portfolio consolidated. Furthermore Yoshifumi Kato was named CTO and Head of the R&D center, with responsibility for the advanced mobility systems business development division, the solution planning for smart-city department, and the autonomous driving business. And last but not least in response to tightened diesel engine emission regulations, the powertrain systems business group has been reorganized. Denso is partially owned by Toyota, by far its largest customer.
