摘要

Four years following its founding, the Mountain View, California-based robotics company ?Nuro announced in December 2020 that it received regulatory approval from the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) to launch the first commercial Autonomous Vehicle (AV) service in the state. With this permit, the company can begin making autonomous deliveries in designated parts of San Mateo and Santa Clara counties. Nuro will begin its California delivery service with autonomous Priuses and later will introduce R2, its customized autonomous delivery vehicle. R2 is designed solely to deliver consumer goods, such as food, beverages and prescription medicines, with no driver and no passengers. Last year Nuro announced raising a 500 million US dollars Series-C funding round. The company is already making public AV deliveries in Houston, Texas, through partnerships with leading retailers such as CVS, Walmart, Domino’s Pizza and Kroger supermarkets.
