As former Chair of the drafting panel of B 85837:2005 I would like to take this opportunity to respond to the letter from Chris Yarrow (Arboricultural Journal 2006, Vol. 29 No. 3) describing some of the problems he is having with the new British Standard document. His claim that the new BS 'is considerably more complicated than the 1991 version'... does not bear scrutiny as Yarrow overcomplicates things himself in paragraph 2 of his letter by repeating himself unnecessarily (TPP, AIA and AMS all gettwo mentions).
