摘要

Following a year of consultation with about 135 individuals, the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) has revised the indicators recommended for organizations that wish to voluntarily disclose their sustainability performance. GRI wants to dispense with the distinction between "generally applicable" and "organization-specific" indicators contained in the guidelines released in 2000. The new terminology classifies indicators of performance as "core" or "additional" (see Table 3). Core indicators are believed to be relevant to most organizations and of interest to most stakeholders. Under the proposed rules, a company that declares its report to be prepared "in accordance" with the guidelines does not have to include all the core indicators. If it wants to forego any of them, however, reasons for their omission must be given. In the initial guidelines, GRI asked reporters to provide information on all generally applicable indicators in the interest of comparability.
