The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), located in Atlanta, Georgia, is the federal agency for protecting the health and safety of the people of the United States, whether they are at home or abroad. As part of the Department of Health and Human Services the agency carries out its responsibilities by providing information to make considered decisions on health and promoting health through strong partnerships. By developing and using disease prevention and control, environmental health, and health promotion and educational activities, the CDC strives to improve the health and safety of the people, of the U.S.
