Norway-based Aker Carbon Capture and the Northern Lights consortium, which is a j.v. between Equinor, Shell and TotalEnergies, have entered into an MoU that will use Aker Carbon Capture's CCS technology with the Northern Lights CO2 transport and storage assets. The two partners hope to provide their combined offerings to heavy CO2 emitters across Europe. So far, the Northern Lights j.v. is looking to develop infrastructure to transport captured CO2 in vessels to a receiving terminal in Norway, where it will be sent to permanent storage.
