According to a document seen by Reuters, Iraq's Federal Supreme Court ruled on Feb. 15 that a 2007 law passed by the Kurdish Regional Government (KRG) to regulate oil and gas development in Iraqi Kurdistan is unconstitutional and demanded that Kurdish authorities hand over all KRG and neighboring crude supplies to Iraq's Oil Ministry. The ruling declared KRG oil contracts with oil companies, foreign parties, and states including exploration, extraction, export, and sale agreements invalid. The ruling also stated that Iraq's Oil Ministry must be allowed to audit all agreements concluded by the KRG with oil and gas companies.
