Arthroscopic Filling of Talar Osteochondral Defects With Stem Cell-Rich Collagen Paste

摘要

A novel technique of filling osteochondral defects in the talus is described using a paste of concentrated autologous bone marrow aspirate mixed with particulate collagen/glycosaminoglycan. After arthroscopic debridement and mierofracture, the paste is applied under dry arthroscopic conditions with a fibrin glue covering. The paste can also be applied with open arthrotomy. The procedure offers the delivery of stem cells and growth factors to the damaged joint surface with minimal morbidity. Early anecdotal results are good, but longer study will be needed to discern an improvement over basic microfracture techniques.
