In their quest to find new and exciting ways of expression working with clay, visual artists are pushing the boundaries of creativity by exploring innovative mediums, techniques and processes. This global trend also holds true in South Africa, where local artists are experimenting with fibre and textiles to create mainstream contemporary art.1 Art, as we know it, and as we value it, is one of the most open arenas, one in which thread is no different from paint, fabric no different from bronze, weaving no different to welding. Artists make intersections. Joints.
