Strong Urals differentials coupled with a collapse in values for Kazakh CPC Blend have pushed the sour/sweet spread to the widest since 2007. CPC Blend differentials to Dated Brent were at minus |1.45/bbl, while Urals were at Dated Brent minus 32.5 ￠/bbl on May 16. Urals has continued to rise as difficulty rises in securing Iranian oil supplies. The spread has not been this wide ($1.125/bbl) since Jan. 2005. "It is a big drop [on OPC Blend], with naphtha cracks so depressed both in the Mediterranean and NWE, all Med sweet grades suffer a lot," a CPC Blend trader commented.
