According to a new study from the Center for Community and Business Research at the Univ. of Texas at San Antonio's Institute for Economic Development, continued development of the Eagle Ford shale play generated $25B worth of economic output last year after a six-fold increase in oil production to over 28MM bbl, a tripling of condensate production to over 21 MM bbl, and a doubling of natural gas production from 2010 to 2011 sparked by the startup of a vast amount of new wells. The study concluded, "The total number of recoverable reserves for the Eagle Ford shale is still unknown, but there are estimates that it could be as much as 7-10B bbl. That would make it the largest on-shore oil reserve ever discovered in the lower 48 states." According to the CEO of pipeline operator NuStar Energy commented, "The Eagle Ford will ensure growth for our community for decades to come. We are evaluating a series of projects in that regard that could literally double our company's earnings over the next few years." Output is expected to continue increasing as a senior director with Chesapeake Energy Corp. estimates there is at least 30 years worth of production within Eagle Ford.
