The Canadian energy firm was able to beat analysts' estimates for 1Q profits as a result of higher oil prices. The Average WTI price in the New York harbor traded at $103.03/bbl in the quarter, up 9.8 from the average price in 1Q 2011. As a result, Suncor Energy Inc. reported a net income of $1.48B, up from $1.05B in 1Q 2011 and higher than analysts' forecast of $1.29B.
