Increased demand from the gasoline pool has spurred interest in European naphtha cargoes, but this interest is described as "subdued" in the spot market. Naphtha supply/demand fundamentals in NWE are described as balanced as supplies have been reduced as a result of refinery shutdowns and scheduled turnarounds. Also, the arbitrage to Asia is closed for most grades due to a narrow East-West price spread, though it is still considered viable to send heavy grades east. The arbitrage to the US is also closed as it is currently more economical to blend the naphtha into the gasoline pool in Europe before sending the blended gasoline west.
