Prognostics and Health Management of Electronics: Fundamentals, Machine Learning, and the Internet of Things, by Pecht, Michael and Kang, Myeongsu, presents good technical insights into advance prognostics health management (PHM) and theories, which are suitable for both industry and academic practitioners. The authors provide insights into the broad values and technical applications of prognostics reliability and electronics health management principles in this book. While the book is written as a standard classroom textbook, it contains enough real-world references to highlight the book's practicality, including real-world examples on prognostics reliability monitor and solutions at the end of the book. The book's opening chapter presents a good understanding and underscores the fundamentals of electronics reliability and prognostics management, supporting it with examples of applications. Physics-of-failure approach(PoF) to prognostics health management and applications of machine learning in PHM are discussed in the subsequent chapters. Also contained in this chapter is a description of the adoption of PHM in the industry, e-Maintenance and internet-of-things (IoT) as well as future projections for its usage.
