摘要

The MitraClip, a catheter-based implant device used to repair leaky mitral valves, confers stable long-term improvements in functional outcomes in patients with severe, inoperable mitral regurgitation (MR), according to a new study. Researchers evaluated long-term outcomes in 799 MR patients (mean age 75.3 years; 60.7 percent male) enrolled in the multicentre, industry-independent German Transcatheter Mitral Valve Interventions (TRAMI) registry. Among the variables examined were improvements in New York Heart Association (NYHA) functional class and self-rated health status. There were significant and stable improvements in NYHA* functional class. From 10.8 percent at baseline, the percentage of participants reporting NYHA class I/I I at the 1-year follow-up jumped to 64.9 percent. After a median of 1,037 days, this value further increased to 65 percent. [Int J Cardiol 2019;277:35-41]
