摘要

Women diagnosed with an infection, such as urinary tract infection, pneumonia, or sepsis, during a delivery hospitaliza-tion were more likely to be readmitted for postpartum stroke, according to a study presented at ISC 2019. Using data from the National Read-missions Database of the Healthcare Cost and Utilization Project between 2010 and 2014, researchers conducted a retrospective cohort study involving 17.2 million delivery hospital-izations, of whom 2,128 women had a stroke and were readmitted within 30 days after delivery. [ISC 2019, abstract WMP86] Among women diagnosed with infection during a delivery hospitaliza-tion, 7.3 percent were readmitted due to postpartum stroke, 1,189 and 720 of which were haemorrhagic and isch-aemic strokes, respectively.
