摘要

Despite the world economic slowdown, Qatar's gross domestic product (GDP) grew by an estimated 9% in real terms in 2009, according to the latest country report on Qatar published by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on 17 February following consultations with the authorities. The economy had grown by 16% in real terms in 2008, due to the increase in liquefied natural gas (LNG) and condensate output, and to the healthy performance of the non-hydrocarbon sectors of the economy. For 2010, the IMF expects real GDP growth to rebound to 18.5%, driven by a further increase in LNG production and by related activities, as well as by a recovery in the industrial and construction sectors. With consumer prices having fallen by 5.5% in 2009, whereas they had increased by 15% in 2008, the IMF expects prices to rise by 1% in2010.
