In the last days of November, US HMS 12 (80:20) was available in Turkiye at $366/t CFR, up $6/t month-on-month. Meanwhile, the prices for European material of the same grade increased to $361/t CFR. The current demand for finished steel in Turkiye is insufficient to prop up steel scrap quotes. Some improvements seen in the domestic buyers activity in the second half of November were only of a temporary and ad hoc nature, Metal Expert estimates. In October, Turkiye’s steel output amounted to 2.87 million t, up 6.9 month-onmonth, but down 18 year-on-year. Until the year-end, this figure may reach only 2.9 million t, given the current environment of the domestic and foreign markets for finished steel in Turkiye.
