摘要

Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) is a global health and sustainable development threat that is reducing the effectiveness of medicine and health care, impacting food security and safety impeding progress on the Sustainable Development Goals. Systematic misuse and overuse of antimicrobials in humans, animals, and food production are the main drivers contributing to development of drug-resistant pathogens. The presence of resistant bacteria along the food chain is a potential route of exposure for everyone. Effective monitoring and surveillance systems that track the use of antimicrobials, antimicrobial residues and the spread of AMR through food chains are critical. AMR is a complex problem that requires a multisectoral meaningful engagement of all stakeholders and cannot be taken separately any longer. The Tripartite agencies (FAO, OIE and WHO) and Codex Alimentarius are working together to provide Member States with normative guidance, standards and tools to tackle antimicrobial resistance including policy advocacy and surveillance capacity building.
