The Turkish market for PVC has remained quiet this week. The polymer prices have been mostly unmoved as there have been only a couple of new offers to the country. 'The market sentiments have changed as everyone expects prices to keep declining amid weak demand. This month, however, it does not matter much because we are entering the Ramadan period and there will be no trade whatsoever,' a Turkish trader has told PVC Market Weekly. This week's flooding of the southeastern provinces has completely dampened buying interest in the country and market players believe it will also cause more transport difficulties and supply delays because of damaged infrastructure. 'Only K58 demand remains good, but the material availability is low as we do not hear any new offers and European suppliers are not in the market,' another trader has commented. Supply of other grades has been tight as well. Last week's offers from Russia, heard by some players, have become irrelevant as the polymer prices are not following an uptrend anymore. The only fresh offers have been heard from South Korea, but those are for April shipment, which means delivery in June, so they have no real effect on today's market conditions.
