摘要

The Parana de las Palmas River is the southernmost of the branching rivers in the Parana Delta in Argentina,which is rich in natural resources and biodiversity.However,the delta is also under urbanization pressures that lead to ecosystem degradation,and climate change imposes an extra layer of burden(e.g.,the 2020 severe drought).Following up on an on-site investigation of the Parana wetlands from Buenos Aires,Alexandra Kehayoglou expresses her environmental activism through the creation of enormous,beautifully decorated carpets that portray vanishing landscapes,named Parana de las Palmas.The left side of the artwork shows pieces of land that are un-exploited,while the right side exhibits where land has been cleared for pastures and development.This tapestry artwork shows how the Parana Delta region is full of endangered and disappearing ecosystems that are leaving nothing but our egotism behind.
