The Baltic Sea coaster market remains inactive. Fresh cargo offers are few these days. Players report that cargoes are mostly shipped under previously signed contracts, while the spot market is looking slack. Freight rates stay under pressure and owners often have to make concessions. Only shipments from Russian ports still require premiums: A 3,300 t lot of steel has been fixed from St. Petersburg to Rostock at €75/t; Carrying about 4,000 t of the cargo from the same port to ARA is estimated by brokers at €90/t; Transportation of 9,000 t of seeds from Riga to Ghent is negotiated closer to mid-€30s/t; Rates for shipment of about 4,000 t of dwt cargo from the lower Baltic to the ARA ports amount to €28-30/t; The transportation cost of 15,000 t of corn from Poland to Pasaia is voiced by brokers at around $30/t.
