摘要

Trade remains quite lively in the Black Sea and the Mediterranean region in 2H May. Owners are confidently raising rates not only for shipments ex the Danube ports, but also from the seaports of Bulgaria, Romania, Georgia, Turkey and the MENA countries. This is primarily owing to limited list of vessels opening in the region, especially in the Black and Marmara Seas; note that tonnage list keeps decreasing. This already looks like a systemic problem and is primarily caused by growing downtimes in the Sulina Canal, where about 80 vessels are waiting for pilotage. Recall also several dozen ships stuck in Ukrainian ports since the start of the war. Transportation costs from Reni and Izmail, as well as the ports of Bulgaria and Romania have added another $4-7/t this week, while shipping rates ex the Marmara Sea and the eastern Mediterranean have risen by $0.5-2/t. Meanwhile, no major shifts can be seen in the western Mediterranean and the Adriatic Sea: a relative balance is maintained in the area.
