How do security operations centers (SOCs) respond to breaches? In a presentation on May 2 at Healthcare Innovation's Southern California Summit, Bob Reny, sales CTO and principal engineer at the Foster City, California-based Exabeam, which applies advanced data analytics to support cybersecurity in patient care organizations, answered that question.Reny gave a presentation entitled "Seize the Breach." He began by referencing the company's history. As he noted, "Exabeam was founded in 2013 to focus on a unique business challenge that organization face today. The explosion of devices creates the expansion of security technologies to manage endpoints, users, and applications. This changes the amount of information that the Security Operations Center (SOC) has to manage. SIEM-security information and event management-and the analytics required for success-were not able to be scaled in a traditional manner," he said. In the midst of this industry evolution, he noted, "Exabeam is the only vendor that addresses this business challenge by aggregating context, analyzing baseline, and providing actionable risk score coupled with incident timelines. This accelerates alert triage and improves threat hunting. As a result, we can move your SOC from reactive to pro-active activities."
