摘要

In this study, a novel inflatable mandrel assisted hot-pressing process for manufacturing channel-section CFRPaluminum hybrid profiles was proposed. Effects of forming parameters on the forming quality were evaluated through inter-laminar performance testing, dimensional accuracy measurement and microstructure observation. Finite element analysis was also performed to explore the forming characteristics and deformation mechanisms. Results indicated that this novel method could exert more uniform pressure and achieve better forming quality than conventional hot-pressing process in rigid mold. Moreover, forming air pressure of the inflatable mandrel significantly influenced the forming quality. Insufficient air pressure could result in poor inter-laminar bonding strength and voids within the CFRP layers, while excessive air pressure might cause strong inhomogeneity of the profile. It was found that the air pressure should not be above 0.8 MPa to achieve stable forming quality.
