A process to recover at least 95% sodium hydroxide and water from textile mercerization wastewater has been developed using both laboratory and pilot scale nanofiltration membrane systems.Flux changes were measured in terms of oper ation temperature, filtration time, and sodium hydroxide concentrations.Pretreatment requirements as well as the proper cleaning method were established.A colorless clear permeate hving the same caustic soda concentration as the feed solution was produced with COD and SS reduction. The results indicate that percet NaOH recovery is almost equal to percent volumetric recovery.
