Continental Micronesia, popularly known as 'Air Mike', operates unique island hopper flights originating in Honolulu and stopping throughout the Marshall and Caroline Islands (part of the Federated States of Micronesia) to transport passengers and cargo between the islands and from Hawai'i to Guam (Airways, October 2006 & May 1998).Honolulu's open-air terminal is a refreshing experience especially at the early hour of 0500. I was directed to the kiosk to secure my boarding pass, which expedited the process. Security lines were non-existent at this time, and I was off to the President's Club without delay. Before downing plenty of coffee to officially wake up, I took a stroll through the airport's famous tropical gardens and snapped a shot of airplane N14228, which was to operate CM957 across the Pacific.I accessed the President's Club using my SkyTeam Elite Plus status as I was on an international itinerary later in the trip. Sadly, I will lose access to these lounges when Continental Airlines leaves SkyTeam late in 2009 in favor of the Star Alliance. The lounge was quiet at this hour, and the agent told me that the flight would be empty on the first few segments and slowly fill up at Pohnpei [Ponape] and Chuuk [Truk Island], which apparently is common. After I had partaken of a toasted bagel, cereal, and fresh pineapple, boarding was called for the flight.
