Since 1988, the Howard Brandston Student Lighting Design Education Grant has encouraged and recognized students who have shown professional promise in lighting design. The competition is an annual international design event open to students of architecture, interior design, architectural engineering, and related academic programs that have lighting as an educational emphasis. Established by Howard Brandston, principal of H.M. Brandston & Partners in New York City, the purpose of this grant is to encourage good lighting and advance the appreciation of lighting as an art.
