Iraq's oil ministry said China National Offshore Oil Corp. (CNOOC) will carry out exploration work in the Gulf of Basrah under an agreement signed three years ago. CNOOC will conduct 2-D seismic work in an area covering 530 square kilometers and drill one exploration well, marking the Orst such activity in Iraqi waters off the southern province of Basrah. The ministry said the project had been delayed until now by the Covid-19 pandemic.
