OUR home, planet Earth, is dying. It is difficult to avoid hearing this statement if you read the papers or watch television. As of May, this year, 2,100 scientific organisations and governments in 39 countries declared a 'climate emergency'. There is a clock ticking, counting down the time left in which the world needs to limit the global temperature rise to 1.5C, at the time of writing, it was down to six years 331 days 23 hours and 35 minutes. If the world temperature isn't contained, there will be a catastrophe that will send our planet into an irrecoverable spin of fire and flood, disease, and starvation. Our species, the human being, is responsible for this situation, and it will be our responsibility to reverse it. It is a big ask, but so is feeding seven billion people a day, drilling 10km below the seabed to extract oil, creating housing for the world's population - as a species we have achieved so much, it is now time to achieve on a different level in a limited amount of time.
