On May 14, FAA announced the first round of Airport Improvement Program (AIP) grants for 2022. It includes more than $608 million in grants to 441 airports located in 46 states, American Samoa, and the Northern Mariana Islands. Two of these grants were for airport noise mitigation efforts: 1. Alexandria, LA, International Airport received a $3.5 million grant to purchase 15 homes in the 65 DNL contour and to relocate 40 residents adversely impacted by aircraft noise. This project will benefit owners and tenants living near the airport, FAA said, and demonstrates the Biden-Harris administration’s commitment to equity and environmental sustainability;
