摘要

Based on iodine number, adsorption capacity of methylene blue, theBET specific surface area, and the yield, the conditions forpreparation of activated carbon as adsorbents from bamboo wereoptimized. The activation temperature and activation time tested werein the ranges 700~880 deg C and 1~3 h, respectively. Equilibriumisotherms and rates for the adsorption of two dyes and phenol fromaqueous solutions onto such activated carbons were measured at 30 degC. The equilibrium isotherms could be fit by the Langmuir equationand the adsorption rates could be analyzed by a plot of amounts ofadsorption versus the square root of time. The present results showedthat the activated carbons prepared in this work appeared to beeconomically promising for the removal of dyes and phenol, comparedto other commercial adsorbents.
