Nearly 24 years after the original Eastern shut down on January 18, 1991, the new Eastern Air Lines welcomed home its first new aircraft on December 19, 2014. The ex-Kenya Airways (KQ/ KQA) Boeing 737-800 "The Spirit of Captain Eddie Rickenbacker," arrived from Shannon, Ireland (SNN) via Portsmouth, New Hampshire (PSN) into the airline's new base at Miami International Airport at 15:13 local time, on Runway 8R, to a water cannon salute. With this Airbus A321 named "Menta Fresca,"JetBlue (B6/JBU) celebrated the delivery of its 200th aircraft with special markings. The brand-new airliner was ferried from Hamburg to Paine Field via Portsmouth in mid-October 2014 to receive its in-flight entertainment suite before entering service with the airline. American Airlines (AA/AAL) has introduced yet another special hybrid color scheme on this ex-US Airways Airbus A321, featuring AA's new logo on the former livery of the absorbed carrier. This particular airliner was delivered in March, 2014.
