The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Office of Inspector General will soon begin an audit of FAA’s progress in establishing a basis for certificating the airworthiness of Urban Air Mobility (UAM) vehicles, such as package-carrying drones and air taxis that will operate at low altitudes in densely populated urban areas. The audit, set to begin later this month, is being conducted at the request of the leaders of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure and its Aviation Subcommittee.
