By application of the high temperature method for spectrocopical VIS-absorption measurements developed by the authors, the position and the height of the bands of the Co~(2+)(O~(2-))_4-complex have been investigated and analysed for two chosen silicates. The investigations include a temperature range from room temperature up to a temperature above the liquidus temperature (up to 1743 K). The thermic stability (dissociation degree and dissociation enthalpy) of the Co~(2+)(O~(2-))_4-complex in the glassy and the liquid state has been determined. With this paper the authors want to contribute to the reserach on the chemical structure of liquid slags.
