Specialising in induction heating equipment, Radyne is the supplier of the established Hi-Bond technology for induction heating, with typical applications covering wire, rope, rebar, and cable conductors. For the production of tyre cord wire of 0.8 - 2 mm PHI, the technology can be used for the simultaneous heating of 10 - 24 parallel wires to diffuse copper and zinc coatings into a protective surface layer. No wire contact is involved. Temperatures to approximately 600 deg C are achievable via two heating stages, to give a profiled heating curve over heating lengths which are usually of about 5 m. The power source for this application is Radyne's 25 kHz TQ range of inverters, which are available from 40 to 240 kW.
