With decades of experience and expertise transporting everything from endangered wild animals to zoos, drilling rigs, cars, helicopters and even thousands of eggs, Korean Air has the know-how to safely and securely deliver just about anything. Throughout the pandemic, that expertise came to the fore. The airline swiftly pivoted to a cargo focus that kept the carrier profitable, addressed the global cargo capacity shortages, and provided critical medical equipment and COVID vaccines worldwide. Korean Air was a pioneer in passenger-to-freighter aircraft conversions and now operates some 1,000 cargo-only flights each month. The airline was among the first to be certified by IATA's Center of Excellence for Independent Validators on Pharmaceutical Handling (CEIV Pharma). The airline also expanded its cold-chain operations with a new cool cargo center that has 1,292 square meters of cold storage capable of accommodating 100 tons of freight.
