Ozark entered the Seventies as a much different airline than it had been in 1960, with a modern fleet of DC-9s and FH-227Bs. More authority was received from the Civil Aeronautics Board to operate nonstop between the larger cities on its system, such as St Louis, Minneapolis-St Paul, Des Moines, and Chicago, once again blurring the line between a local service carrier and a trunk airline. In addition to scheduled flights blanketing the Midwest and stretching to the East Coast and to Denver, the airline operated charters for major league baseball and football teams.
