Uninorms on bounded lattices have recently attracted widespread attention. In this study, we first propose the necessary structure for uninorms with Archimedean underlying t-norms and t-conorms on bounded lattices. We also discuss the characterization of more general classes of uninorms. We then study the necessity for a particular structure of uninorms that is required by many existing methods for constructing uninorms on bounded lattices.
