The flow around a stationary gas bubble in an annular channel was studied. The channel had a diameter of the outer and inner tubes of 32 and 10 mm, respectively. The liquid flow was downward. The stationary bubble was produced by injection of air through a capillary tube. The wall shear stress measurements were performed by the electrodiffusional technique. The measured circumferential distributions of the wall shear stress demonstrated strong nonuniformity across the channel. The highest liquid velocity was in the region of the bridge flowing around the bubble.
