Motus Commercials, understood to be DAF's largest independent dealer, employs 1,300 people across 32 dealer sites in an arc from Scotland down to the South West. It takes in 50 Level 3 heavy goods vehicle apprentices every year, linked to individual dealerships. The scheme is managed by DAF apprentice provider Skillnet, and supported by City of Bristol College for block-release education. As apprentices come toward the end of the course, Motus starts to plan their future direction. Those who are keen to push on to master tech will be sent on manufacturer training programmes to build theirtechnical competence. Those more interested in progressing into management have been trained on a non-Levy-funded Level 4 management programme from the automotive world. But this year it has begun the first of two bespoke programmes developed with training provider Learning Skills Partnership.
