1. Exporters of food, drinks and consumer products in Australia and the UK will be some of the main beneficiaries of the recentlyimplemented Free Trade Agreement (FTA). According to the Australian Government, Australian exporters will save approximatelyAUD200mn (USD148mn) per year on tariff eliminations alone once both governments have ratified the agreement.2. This agreement is expected to increase Australian exports to the UK by 50% and provide a boost to Australia’s GDP estimatedbetween NZD700mn (USD479mn) and NZD1bn (USD684mn).3. UK whiskies, bread and gin exports to Australia stand to benefit whilst wines, lamb and beauty products from Australia to the UKwill be the biggest winners from this FTA.4. We expect Australian chocolates and confectionary products to be able to capture a larger share of the UK market after theremoval of tariffs as they have recorded strong growth even prior to the FTA.
