With the fusion of Chile's LAN Airlines and JAM Linhas Aereas of Brazil to form the new LATAM Airlines Group, it is no longer manana for Latin American aviation. The time has arrived for LATAM to challenge the world's leading airlines for supremacy in terms of size and savoir faire. The two component airlines' combined networks and affiliates blanket South America's leading markets, and with solid-although slowing-economies and increasing air traffic, the future for the new Latin juggernaut seems bright.
