Lyndhurst Precision Engineering, a producer of purpose-built machinery for product handling, has designed and manufactured a fully automated assembly that twists and locates loudspeaker wires for integration into vehicle wiring looms. The UK-based company designed the wire-twisting machine in response to motor industry demands which necessitated a more consistent twist and a wider range of wire length options. The computer-controlled machine, which is in operation 24 hours a day, seven days a week, can accommodate wire lengths from 500 mm - 5 m, and can twist them at speeds of up to 1.5 m per second. It automatically cuts the wires to predetermined lengths and crimps terminals onto the ends.
