I thought the pointy nose would droop at the airplane's final resting place within the Steven F Udvar-Hazy Center of the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum at Washington-Dulles International Airport, Virginia (Airways, December 2006)-with head bowedin silence at the end of a proud 27-year career. It was that unique trick that allowed Concorde pilots to see the runway during the high deck-angle on final approach. I remembered Concorde coming in for landing, looking both regal and like a predatory bird, with head held high and sharp beak pointed earthward as if hunting for prey, its main gear extended talon-like beneath that iconic delta wing.
