Morphologically it resembles a densely branchedChordaria flagelliformisor an aberrantDictyosiphon foeniculaceus.It disagrees with known species ofStictyosiphonby a loosely constructed cortex which develops in connection with formation of plurilocular sporangia. We, therefore, consider this a new species for which the nameStictyosiphon arcticusis proposed.
